A Week of New Friendships and Fun!

I left Kansas City Airport Tuesday at 11:15 am and arrived in Chicago O'Hare Airport at 1:15pm. I enjoyed a pleasant, but fast taxi ride to my hotel where I met a group of ladies in the lobby when I checked in!

I ended up without a room mate, but appreciated it when I had to get dressed in the morning and in between events! I learned a lot about pageants---They are fashion shows! When someone tells me "it's time for rehearsal" I think of sweats and a t-shirt--not a gown! Some ladies changed gowns every break! They had the most beautiful gowns! If I get the itch to try again--I will be ready!

I made some amazing friends! You would not believe the empowerment you get from being in the presence of a group of women who have a specific purpose! With the new partnership the International Pageant made with The American Heart Association and their Go Red program--WOW! It is an amazing cause!

I want to Thank all those who were a tremendous support for me during this adventure! But just so you know---It isn't over yet! I have things planned for my remaining time as Mrs. Kansas! Keep a look out for more info!

Make A Wish Car Show June 21st, 2008

I helped at the Make A Wish Foundation Car Show. We took pictures with the cars and their owners, and with the Make A Wish Child that was Sponsored. He wants to take his family to Disney World. He is an amazing young man! He has a great smile and is a crowd pleaser. The car show raised $13,000 at the initial count at the end of the show. I loved taking the trophies to the winners! I also made a new friend---Mrs. Kansas America 2008---Kimberly McDowell!

Parent Invovlement in their Children's Education!

As the Parent Volunteer Coordinator, I set aside every Wednesday for parents and volunteers to come to the school and do things for the teachers. We called this day "Helping Hands". Our volunteers were awesome!

This year we started a DAd's group and they came to school during a day set aside for them and visitied the classroom. These Dad's are amazing!

My Children's Schools Received Awards!

Allen Elementary Received the "Red Carpet Award" which is for being the friendliest school. Parents and people who come to our school feel comfortable and welcome! As the PTO president and the Parent Volunteer Coordinator, I was apart of the reason we received this award! It was so awesome to accomplish this for our school!

Robinson Middle School Received the "No Place for Hate" Award. They had all the students write notes and they tied them to balloons and we sent them off to the world--the sky! I went and helped hand out the balloons and launch them. The kids loved seeing the crown. The girls came up and some wanted pictures and some wanted hugs. The boys wanted me to sign their arms---Fun things kids do! It was a lot of fun!
